So my computer only works when it's plugged in, but it doesn't charge. The light on the charger doesn't even come on either!

Here's a link to a page with some information that might help you. You may need to reset the PRAM or the Power Manager.

I've never seen this on a MacBook, but my powerbook G4 used to have that problem.
I suggest going to your local Apple store and asking them.

Sounds like your battery bit the big one.
Go to the Apple website and order another one.
