think of the link as the jews were persecuted during WW2 and kept an active terrorist role in 1946 to demand homeland and were given it as they had suffered and displaced during WW2 no anti jewish or muslim answers please this is a serious question about what if something never happened and how it would effect the world today, would they have demanded a homeland or kept on as normal living within there areas in Europe

no obsession with hitler for sure, was just a conversation earlier if you could change something in the past what would you change and then got to thinking stop hitler, but what would the consequences be in the modern world today if ww2 never happened and that was just one of many

Quite an interesting question.
Al Qaeda / Islamic extremism comes from post colonialism I think...until the end of world war 1 there had been an Islamic superpower (the caliphate) for centuries.
Western imperialism put an end to that; and al qaeda is at least in part a backlash to this.
Probably then there would be an anti-western islamic movement anyway, because of western imperialism; but the existence of Israel does provide a particular focus to the one we've actually got.
Also, without Hitler would there still be a British Empire? That would make al Qaeda look different!

Al Qaeda was going to happen no matter what.
The CIA supplied arms to the Taliban and Osama Bin Ladin back in the 80's as they were fighting against a communist invasion by the then evil USSR and Warsaw pact countries. At that time he was regarded as a hero fighting against common communist enemy.
The misjudgemnet they made was not realising that they were arming muslim fundamentalists that would turn on the US once the immediate threat of the USSR army had passed. The USSR army left with their tails between their legs after 7 very bloody years of fighting and some very heavy losses. It was public opinion in the USSR that forced a very hummiliating withdrawal for their army. The Taliban were hailed at the time as all conquering hero's of a evil communist invasion.....But you may not know that in the US as facts tend to be forgotten when it suits the politicians and media.
Muslim's, Jews and Christians have been at it ever since the 11th century and the time of the first crusade.

Al Qaeda and Hitler are completely independent. Their hatred towards Jews is motivated by different reasons that would surface in history, present and future regardless of what the other did.

Since the world would be inutterly different had the second world war not occurred, it is difficult to imagine that Al-Quaed would exist had hitler not been around.

Cause and effect. You could keep doing that to you get right back to the beginning.
Hitler only got as far as he did because many, in the 1930's, saw him as a bastion to communism.
