It astounds me that Republicans knew of this man's history yet allowed him to Co-Chair this Caucus! To me it is as bad as what Foley did.

"Foley was one of the foremost opponents of child pornography. Foley had served as chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. He introduced a bill in 2002 to outlaw web sites featuring sexually suggestive images of preteen children, saying that “these websites are nothing more than a fix for pedophiles.” As it was written, the bill would have prohibited commercial photography of children, and it failed due to the unmanageable burden it would have presented to the legitimate entertainment industry.[17][18] In June 2003 he wrote letters to the governor and attorney general of Florida, asking them to review the legality of a program for teenagers of a Lake Como nudist resort in Land o’ Lakes, Florida.[19]"

Why in the world would anyone find it acceptable to appoint a known sexual pedophile to such a position? Or even someone who has even had the question raised about him?

Well, I can't say I know when Foley was appointed, but word is out now that members knew as early as 2000. So, why don't you get off your high horse of "truth."

WASHINGTON - Rep. Jim Kolbe (news, bio, voting record), R-Ariz., confronted then-Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record) about his Internet communications with teenagers as early as 2000, according to a newspaper report. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061009/ap_on_go_co/congress_pages

Comparing Clinton's follies to Foley's follies is ludicrous. If you wish to defend his actions or marginalize them, try a new tack, this "Clinton Was Worse" crap is sooo old.

Yes, Clinton was impeached for LYING. Foley impeached for being a child predator. Sorry you are so blinded by your "truth" not to see the difference there.

Try to know basic truth before asking question. No one knew about this when he was appointed to Co-chairman, but why would it matter. He wrote & introduced the Adam law - one of the best pro-children laws. When a child goes missing in stores or public places, it is the law that shuts down store until child is found - most malls & stores including all Wal-Marts participate.
Your complaint seems to be he is homosexual & was teased by teenage boys over 16 that knew it, the emails were to a 18 yr old not a child. I understand Republicans being upset that he is gay but what is the Democrats problem - are you really gay bashers? As a Mother I would like to slap him but I bet you were one of the Democrats who defended Clinton through Monica, Paula, Jennifer, & the other 3 known women including 2 that said they were raped - but that is right too much time had gone by.
Get off your moral high horse, both parties have a few mistakes - the difference is ours resigned & yours was impeached.

I leave all punishment up to courts after the FBI finishes investigating & will decide if & what crime has occurred. I trust our Justice System & have no need to convict before trial esp. since emails not meetings are in question. I can not find laws on child suggestive emails but there may be one. I do not claim to be a Judge.

I never would have let then stay at any man's house, not related to me. He has never been accused of touching a child or teenager, just writing emails. My grandchildren are too young to know what they mean & my children can defend themselves - Foley is not interested in my daughters & my only son is a US Army Ranger. I think he can protect himself, but thank you for you concern for my family. I to worry about them from real pediophiles, but not so much from gays.

The hypocrisy is insidious and untenable. The scary part is it feels as if those who are on the outskirts of these indiscretions get away with it. For example (albeit unrelated) Abramhoff scandel...what about ALL those involved!! Those that knew and did nought!

However it is typical scanario of Pedophiles being attacted to school jobs!

What this reveals to me is that Folley felt safe with what he was doing, otherwise maybe he would not have been involved on such a large scale. It seems as if he was okay with the other Republicans and leadership aware of what was going on. This sense of security by him can only mean that there is a lot going on that is deemed acceptable in the ranks. Maybe there is more to this story; like the I will keep quiet about your crime if you keep quiet about mine?

The pay back can truly only come at the voting polls. The DEMS need to get people out to vote, therein lies the key to winning.

It is clear that this government is totally incapable of basic management and securing the country where it counts, in our schools, for example.

About ten US kids died this week at the hands of domestic gunmen...not terrorists; and yet with trillions of dollars misdirected and the misconstrued threat of apocalypse this BUSH admin is leading voters yet again with the BS rhetoric.

AMERICA WAKE UP VOTE VOTE VOTE and be sure its a democrat...our only chance to regain our integrity, our constitution, HABEAS CORPUS, and everything we all thought this democarcy was about.

PS MS> I VOTE DO YOU... You do not have a clue, please use your VOTE wisely. To that end note the little mistake of FOLLEY is really a HUGE CRIME against kids...nothing to do with being GAY. That is irrelevant. Most Pedophiles are straight. The issue is he is a PEDOPHILE who is making laws with his sentae vote on behalf of those who vorted for him... Dont minmize this P L E A S E
