It is NOT against the law, so long as it is a single cab (no back seat). However, it is safer to ride in the back in a rear facing seat because of the airbags. Not to sound horrid, but if set off, they could snap your baby's neck. If you have no backseat, and have no choice but to have your baby ride up front, look to see if your truck has the option of turning the passenger airbag off.
Important info to keep in mind:
You can drive your vehicle to your local DMV. They will check your child seat to make sure it is securely installed, and in the safest of positions at no cost to you.

No. The front seat is the most dangerous place for a carseat to be. If you're in an accident, the airbag will deploy. The force will push the carseat into the seat, possibly causing suffocation.

its not the safest way to ride with ur baby. but as my parents did, if its ur only way of transpirtation, then what other choice do u have? just make sure he/she is facing the right way(towards the back of the truck) and make sure ur baby is strapped in good. i know as a mom u just want the best for your baby. i think he/she will be ok. although everyone else had excellent points. but, in accidents, theres no telling what could happen. in the back seat or the front. good luck, and i hope everything works out. also check with ur local police dep. to make sure there are no laws against it. there shouldnt be as long as their safely strapped into their carseat

Yes, as long as there is no airbag in the seat. In many newer trucks, there is a switch so you can turn the front passenger airbag off if you need to put a carseat there.

No. I think it's illegal, and if the pickup has a passenger air bag, it can kill the baby if you're in an accident. A baby is to ride in the back seat of a vehicle facing the rear.

It is highly recommended by several different websites that you don't use a pickup truck if you have an infant car seat carrier due to the fact that it cannot be properly secured in a pickup truck.

I am sure they could, but would you want to risk the life of you baby and get a possible violation citation from a highway patrol or local police officer?
It would be better to put the carseat in the back of a car if you have one. And the carseat still needs to be facing backwards, not towards you.

No, they can be placed sideways in the backseat and strapped accardingly with the instructions. If it is necissary make sure the front seat is as far away from the air bag as possible, and disable the airbag if possible. The airbag deploying is what causeing death in childern in rearfacing carseats in the front seat.
