I think your friend is mistaken...the only thing I can think of that would cause a girl as young as five to bleed was if she was molested...and now at age 11 she probably isnt old enough to have her period...however I am not a doctor nor do I know your friend.

very unlikely 2 reasons

the youngest menarquie ever recorded to my knowledge was a Colombian girl at age 6, and that was a scandal, at least 10 gynecologist from the states went to verify this, and when they tested her bone age guess what she was 5.8 years of age.

Anyway, it's also very unlikely that your friend could start menstruating and stop for 5 years without any consequences, when women start it, they only stop when menopause gets in the way.

So again very very very unlikely

Rare endocrine disorders can cause it. Any vaginal bleeding before age 9 should be investigated by a doctor, since it could be very serious.

I fell off my bike when I was about 6 and crotched myself, and tore my perineum(?) so that bled. Then when I was 10 or 11 , I broke my hymen masturbating, and so bled from that too. Then I got my period when I was 12. - She could have done something similar.

I don't think that's at all possible, the youngest I've heard of a girl getting her period is 8.

There are rare cases of irregular bleeding and it is possible this happened to your friend, but I don't feel she would be bragging about it.
