my male guine pig is having social problems. he won't go near my other male pig and if he does he wants to fight.
He don't let a lot of people pet him. he only lets me pet him in any way even though he does not like it. If any other people do that he bites them. is this ok

It could be that the one male is showing his dominance over the other. But if the fighting is nasty, they need to be separated. When guinea pigs hit their "teenage years" (a little over a year, I think) they may fight alot to be in charge of the cage. If your one boy doesn't like to be picked up or pet, he could have mites (kind of like lice.) When mine had mites, they were very uncomfortable and did not want to be touched. Sometimes they could be so uncomfortable they would bute anyone who touches them. A vet could help you with this. As far as him being nicer when you hold him, I can think of two things off the top of my head that might help. First wrap him in a towel so he feels safe. Guinea pigs like to burrow, so he might like that! Also, when he is sitting with you, have his favorite vege available to snack on. If he associates lap time with his favorite vegetable, be will want to sit with you all the time.
I would not recommend replacing a male with a female unless one is neutered. It only takes a second for a female to get pregnant, and birth can be dangerous for guinea pigs, plus there are so many guinea pigs in shelters in this world, we really don't need anymore!

relies upon on the canines and the guinea pig. It took some month or 2 for my Boston terrier to be pleased with my guinea pigs. The guinea pigs warmed genuine as much as my canines. I in simple terms had to instruct my canines to not attack them and attempt to eat them. on the grounds which you're able to wish a domestic dog, they are going to be quite hipper and can stomp on the pigs without even noticing. Slowly introduce them, and in no way bypass away them on my own mutually.

ummm....I work at a petstore (Natick Petco) and I have to say that everyone else's advice is right, but not. yes you need to separate the guinea pigs so they won't hurt each other. But you CAN have them together IF they are from the same litter (most of the time doesn't HAVE to be) but they DO need to be neutered. That takes away all the dominance feelings they have. it's a male thing I guess hahaha. But yeah, get them neutured, if there from the same litter it helps, if not, makes it a littler harder but definitely not impossible, and I would try to put the cages close to each other. Good luck!

My males would get like that, I eventually had to separate them. (one thought it'd be funny to pierce the other's lip) You should try to get them acquainted with people more, hold him, pet him, give him little treats, all a little at a time and building up how long you baby him as he learns to trust you. When he gets to where he don't bite too much start all over with other people so he can get used to them.
Oh, you're sure that they are both boys? My female would do that when she was irritated and knocked up. She'd just go up to him and try to rip him a new one, and when she wasn't interested in that he stayed as far away from her as possible. She was a mean little b**** though.

Guinea pigs are not meant to have two of the same sex.they will always fight until you put in diff. cages.the other one will get nicer too.

Trade one of your pets with a female. they'll get along much better. At least seperate the two guys.
