They believe in religions that rely on that ruse.

For example--each of the Abrahamic faiths is the 'one true religion' and anyone who doesn't believe is a horrible pagan/infidel/unbeliever who lives a rotten, morally bankrupt life and is going to rot eternally in hellfire. Oh, and all the other stuff on the planet, including animals, plants, and even rocks, are completely inferior to people.

Learning this kind of nonsense from birth sets people up to extend that type of thinking to other areas of their lives. Once convinced of total superiority by faith alone, it's a short hop to racism, anti-gay behavior, class snobbery, even hatred of the opposite sex and anti-environmentalism.

To get rid of this type of thinking, the influence of Judaism, Christianity and Islam (at the least) would have to be diminished to less than 1% of the earth's population.

Its these type of people who have the self esteem problem.

They put people down because they don't feel secure. They try to take the pressure of themselves and they try to focus the attetion on someone else. They don't feel confident. I guess you could blame it on the parents in away .

Because that person is self-centered of who he/she is. And by feeling better is putting other people down- it's sad.
