There r some really great deals going on for some very "nice" computers. I found a desktop 2 GB RAM with a 250 GB harddrive, AThlon 64X2 dual core 4600 with flat panel monitor, surround sound and printer for $830. Mine is a dinosaur and crawls slower than dial-up with dsl. Should I buy a computer now while prices are low or wait 2 or 3 months till vista arrives? apple or hp? The apple--not sure of specifications but it is over $200 more just for the lowest priced pc and I do not know how to start in repairing one myself and have never used it. My main goals--are one that does not crawl with the internet-and one that can handle mass family photos---mainly to scan and put on disk....my scanner handles negative's as well as pictures.

I can perform several repairs with window systems, but not sure if Apple is the same or more complicated to work on.

Get the desktop now...it should tell you if it's Vista ready. For what you are doing with the computer, you should be fine...Remember, it will always be a while before the bugs in Vista get worked out.

There extremely no subject concerns with Vista after the launch of SP1.i exploit it for 2 years.forget with reference to the stubborn people who refuse to divorce XP. As for domicile windows 7,i attempted a replica for 30 days and it is domicile windows Vista with some minor variations. the stressful UAC has now decrease settings, that gruesome sidebar is non-obligatory, you have a picture on defragment, there are some seen additions and the laptop is extra person friendly.however the middle is Vista,so bypass forward get Vista and you will continuously improve later, domicile windows 7 have a similar standards as Vista

Well If I am right vista was secluded to come out a year ago so there is a pretty good chance that it wont be out in a few months. Also you can always upgrade. I am running windows VISTA RC1 on my computer and I cant get my Internet or printer to work because I don't have drivers so wait for the full version.

Go ahead and grab an AMD dual processor core 64 bit system, and realize that there is no true Microsfot 64 bit OS that is tested and proven in the Enterprise...

The true 64 bit systems, which have true 64bit applications, and can run those multi-core systems in a true multi-processor environment, are the Unix clones, like Solaris, Linux, and BSD, and that makes over 30 OSes that will run those cpus at about 50X faster than Microsoft can!

Vista is a huge kluge of crapware and bloatware. It needs 15Gb of drive space!

I just cannot believe that any software firm, and especially Microsoft, can put out that bloated piece of shinola, charge so much, and even smile about it!!

Go ahead and get it now. Everyone know's that when a new OS comes out, Vista will be included, it is full of bugs until the first service pack comes out. That usually takes about a year.

By the time you outgrow this new computer, Vista should have most of the bugs worked out and will then be a decent system.

Personally, I'll buy now. No telling how many bugs and errors Vista is going to have when released. Form what I read Vista will be a huge resource hog. 15 Gig hard drive space, 64mb video card 3d card, 1 Gig memory just for Vista alone! (With all the new features turned on).

I'n my oppinion u should get the comp. And also.... what's all the buzz about Vista? Cause it has a 3-d desktop?....wow!.. like i have that since 2004 on my linux :))

It will use way to many resources. I'm just sticking to my XP and if there is something i will like in vista i will implement it in my XP :)

I personally don't recommend Vista.

for me should wait for vista because when vista comes out all the current hardware will be outdated.... the Quad core processors will be out for Intel and the 4x4 of AMD... the Directx 10 video cards will also be out when vista comes out.... so i suggest you wait for vista... and even though some computers say it is vista compatible.. it is still not 100% compatible but if you wait for the computers that are really for vista then it would be a good choice....

Get the pc now. If you want Vista, just make sure that the pc is Vista compatible and install it when it comes out. I really don't advise you to wait.

May I suggest an new Mac. It may be more expensive at first but. I would not trade performance and stability for cost as long as I can afford it. It wil turn out to be cheaper in the long run.
