A lucid dream is when you realize you're dreaming, and can 'take control'. I've a very few, and they're awesome!

Try to find a back issue of OMNI magazine about this. You may have to do some research. They did an experiment that was successful in conditioning people to control not just some dreams, but every dream they had (that they could recall). They started conditioning with pre sleep suggestions and then using sleep masks with red LEDs. Very interesting and I did it and it worked. if I can dig up the old issue, I'll send you the info. The best part is now it is natural for me and I can (many times) make myself fly at will. Something I enjoy in my dreams...

Lucid dreaming is like playing grand theft auto but in real life but... you aren't... and without actually getting arrested for mowing down a slew of pedestrians. You can do just about anything in a lucid dream; I've actually started running and took off into the sky like a goose once! Without wings! Lucid dreams rule.

yeah they are so awesome! i used to have these scary dreams when i was a kid and then i'd realize i was dreaming and i'd tell myself to count to 10 and then open my eyes so i wouldn't be chased by the bad monsters! haha. then sometimes when i was dreaming i was in my basement with these monsters i'd start talking to them like--"hey! i know you're not real and u can't hurt me because i'm dreaming!!" and then the monsters would be like---ok, you got us--and then start having a friendly conversation with me!! how cool is that? i wish i could have those dreams again so i can catch up with them n see how they're doing! good ol' buddies--them scary basement monsters.

in our family, only my husband and my oldest daughter can do this, and now maybe my youngest daughter. I can't. I'm always caught up in it like a movie drama. Sometimes I dream it over and over again, trying to change the ending, but it never turns out the way I want.

I've never been able to control my dreams, but I have had dreams where I know I am dreaming. That alone is strange.
