The on going argument about same sex marriages is that is is logical and fair to allow people who trully love eachother to share a life, property, children, in a sanctioned union. Not using child baring as a lynch pin seeing that many couples who could have kids or simply can't marry anyway. So, if you strip the argument of its religious component, should those who want to have several husbands or wives be allowed to marry also? Hence, polygamy?

You have to acknowledge the sociological "component" of marriage - as an institution for razing children. The best thing for children is that they are raised by the father and mother that are their genetic parents, in a healthy loving home. Anything other than that is less than ideal and will have a negative cost to society (whether more people in jail, welfare costs, psychological problems, etc...).
Other uses of marriage for man-made benefits like tax benefits, financial reasons, or raising children that are not the biological offspring of both parties, etc. are artificial and really shouldn't be considered as justification for changing the definition of marriage. Civil unions are an effective tool for addressing all of those benefits.
With regards to polygamy, as it is currently legal for one person to live with and make children with multiple people of the opposite gender, why not allow them to be married? Wouldn't that only improve their situation - by encouraging them to make the relationship permanent and provide support for each other? At least that is better than the many people who have children with multiple partners and abandon some of them to go and pursue new relationships.

I have nothing against polygamy. I sort of think it could be a good thing in the right circumstances. Oh and by the way...it's not child "baring"...it is child BEARING. If you're going to pretend to know what you're discussing at least know how to spell.

I don't think its right. It's hard enough today for one man and one woman, cheating, abuse, etc..., add a few more??? Why get married in the first place, stay single and a swinger. Marriage is suppose to be a special bond between TWO people.

I think people should be able to marry whomever they want. I don't have a problem with polygamy as long as everyone is an adult and not coerced into the marriage.

Well i would think that humanity should be allowed to do what ever they want in those fields of life, why do other people get to judge your life even thoe it has nothing to do with them.
P.S I am a straight man, that only has one girlfriend.

I am not anyone to judge anyone but I don't think polygamy should be allowed. When you marry someone, it should only be that one!
