I hardly think so. I think I am a bit more logical. Sure, I love my country, but more importantly, I want the soldiers who I pay [with my taxes] to succeed in the quest to kill people who have sworn to kill people like me where they find me. It's called 'Jihad' To me, the word patriot means so much more. In my opinion, true 'Patriots' joined the military after 9-11 to go and do this difficult task. I am simply a human, or an economist. If the government is not willing to protect me, I want my money back.

It takes a special person to join knowing war is going on. I have complete respect for our troops and help the vetrans every chance I get. Not everyone is willing to take that step into harms way nor does everyone have it in them to do what must be done in war.

Sometimes you have to do what you can. Not everyone can fight.

Based on the above statement I believe that Raalnan5 wants the government to focus more on Al Quaeda and Afghanistan as opposed to the misadventure in Iraq. Al Quaeda and Afghanistan attacked America on 9-11 not Sadam Hussein, and as ugly a mid east dictator he is, he is not alone there. Adhinejan of Iran, Asad of Syria are but a few of the mid east dictators who we all wished were gone.

Opening up the second front in Iraq while we were not yet finished in Afghanistan is looking like the stupidest military decision made by a civilian political leader since Hitler went after the Russians in 1941 as opposed to finishing of the Brits thereby closing the western theatre of the European conflict!

Today you have American Generals with no less than 2 stars coming out against this strategy! No doubt the debate which included Powell and the brass on one side versus the politicos on the other must have been ugly in 2002-03! If America were a dictatorship, the President and much of his cabinet would have been overthrown and th generals would be running a concentrated effort in Afghanistan and Pakistan!

Well I geuss by your definition you're not a patriot. By my definition a patriot is someone who questions the motives and actions of our leaders for the betterment of our nation, i.e., knowing what a war is really about before you inlist.
