It depends on what type of chinese family. Are u talking abput a Chinese family from China? Or Chinese family in America? I'm chinese and i live in Singapore, which is a very modern and weseternised society. Although we keep a lot of our chinese culture and customs, a lot of other customs have been lost. Chinese families usually live together even after they marry and have children but it's not the case anymore. Some chinese parents, like mine, even allow their children to cohabitate before marriage. This would have been no-no in strict chinese families, and even in China. But the chinese place a lot of emphasis on giving respect to your elders and to your parents and grandparents. When growing up, my parents insisted i call my siblings (i'm hte youngest), by their title - Older brother (Ge-Ge), Older sister (jie jie) - and the worst thing is, my sister is my twin - only older by 4 minutes! We have grown out of it but my parents would expect me to place that same emphasis on my own children. My sister married an Irishman, and during their wedding ceremony, he was introduced to my family members and he had to address them by their titles: First Uncle, Second Uncle, First Auntie etc. Right now, in modern times, the only really chinese thing we do is during Chinese New Year, where lots of customs are practiced, and birthdays and weddings.

more simple than u would think, asian families look out more for there own than american families do (i am blk/span. i married and asian female) if they own a buisness the buisness provides 4 the entire family even 4 the ones that dont live at home, asian families r much more traditional than any other race i have come 2 encounter, but as far as the raising of children goes asian families r more into making the family continue 2 prosper they will go all out 2 instill family values into there children, i hope i was helpful
