I believe it is spyware.
The endorsements I have seen for it have been fairly rabid. Pages touting it seem to disappear. There is something funny about it.

Nothing is Perfect.
However, Spybot Search and Destroy is a good piece of Freeware that you can get from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
A small donation will help him to keep the Service going great, though.

Yes, it is very good. The free version does not provide all the bells and whistles as the pay, but, it does provide the exact same detection and removal as the pay version.

go ad-aware or spybot search and destroy for free. Go spy Doctor for paid ($30), its really good.
