I'm not hating lesbians or bisexuals, so please don't reply as if I'm am. If this is really who you feel your are and live this lifestyle more power to you, I'm not trying to bash anyone's sexual orientation, but seems like it's becoming a trendy thing to do with the younger women now-a-days. I say this is because a lot of my younger female friends and just or younger females in general seem to get with other females not because they really want to but because everyone else is doing it or to please their man and just show how freaky they can be. I say to each their own, but I'm a hetrosexual female and I couldn't phathom being with another woman sexually, so I can't see ever compromising myself to follow a trend or to please someone else. What's funny to me too is that they think there is something wrong that I only like men. I've had many discussion with them on this and I'm just trying to figure out what's going on with this. So what do you all think?

As a lesbian female I am inclined to agree with you. I have encountered many women in the past year who use the word "lesbian" to describe themselves but they have a husband or boyfriend. Then they expect a potiential date to deal with it. Crazy but true. Basically a lot of people in the world can not make their own decisions so they follow the crowd. if the crowd is wearing purple tube tops they wear purple tube tops. if the crowd is trying to re-enact Will & Grace in their daily lives that's what they will do also. Right now being a lesbian or bi-sexual is viewed as cool yet rebellious, trendy yet young. In time (hopefully) it will die down and those who were truly born that way and have no mind to change it will remain. So, no you are not the only one who thinks that way.

Has being a Lesbian or Bisexual become a trendy fad?

People also throw up until they kill themselves because it's trendy. They cut their flesh until they bleed out because it's trendy. They die on opperating tables because the surgery they wanted was trendy. They pay $200 for a pair of $10 pants because it's tredny. Yes, unfortunately for straight women being with other women for the reasons you stated is becoming trendy. Then again there are also some bi women that are willing to be more open about their sexuality and are willing to sleep with women instead of pretending to be straight. It seems like there's a little of both happening.

I thought the same.. People seemed to be doing it because it was becoming a trend. Many "hipsters" seemed to have come out as gay and it may seem like it's just a fad. BUT I realize now, that it's simply because it's become more widely accepted. People probably feel more comfortable sharing their true sexuality and that's why it seems there are more and more gay people.

seriously, it is becoming a mere fad in some societies, especially the younger ones.
back in high school, i was one of the 1st lesbians who came out.
and this was a difficult time for me because my school was run by nuns.
but i had to because it was really getting stuffy in the closet, and i just wanted to be able to express the love i felt for this one girl back then.
after 3 or 4 years, everyone in my school seemed to think being a lesbian is the "in" thing.
they would go to malls, and wreak havoc there.
& they don't even come out because they have feelings for other girls at all.
some do just follow a trend.
pathetic, i know, but it's happening.

It does seem like more and more females are experimenting more with the same sex. It's just not the younger crowd getting into this. I have a very dear and close friend who is married to a man and she is very open about being bi. She is in her mid 30's. I myelf have only been with men sexually, but just the idea of females together is a big curiosity.

I think many young females are doing it just to please guys or to get more attention from guys. It's a shame. Girls should never make out with other girls just for that reason, but it seems women in our society anything goes these days. For the record, I'm lesbian, and I find it scary to think how many real young lesbians are being hurt by girls who are just using them to get to a guy.

i see and understand what you are saying and asking. i myself see and know alot of girls still in high school and talk with them and some have said that they make out with other girls just to get a rise out of straight guys who get turned on by seeing two women make out...some have said after making out with another girl a few times...they like it better then making out with men. I think alot of men see women as sexual objects and expect us to please their every whim...and women know how they want to be loved..and can find this in other women. i've made out with girls as a teenager to please guys fantasies...and thought nothing of it then...now i'm 23 and in a serious striaght relationship where i love my man to death, but find myself being more and more attracted to women...even though my man is a very sensual lover...i'm curious as to what it would be like. Women are beautiful creatures...you see a womens naked body all the time in art...( not to say men aren't great too:) i guess i'm more into free love...you should fall in love with a person's soul...dispite what body parts they may have. hope this helps.

Yes, being honest about your sexuality is a trendy fad.

I think it depends on the maturity of the person and whether they are gullible and easily led. Those who say they are for attention are shameful. The reason why a lot of LGBTIQ people "come out" is because they are proud of who they are, not who they should try to be.
