There is no test to become an EMT although in most states you have to pass a physical that you are immunizied and free of diseases, and able to perform the tasks of an EMT. If you decide to work for a fire department you may have to become fire certified and do a difficult agility test.

Not that I know of unless you are affiliated with a Fire Dept. You should be strong enough to assist in lifting a guerney as well as backboard and unresponsive average weight pt. say @ 170lbs.
