David Kopay (running back) was the first NFL player to publicly come out. Roy Simmons wrote a book about being in the closet as an NFL offensive lineman. Esera Tuaolo (defensive tackle) has also come out. Statistically speaking, there must be quite a few more, but a pro football locker room is probably not the friendliest place to an outed homosexual at this point. Tuaolo in particular has devoted a great deal of effort to combatting homophobia in the NFL and athletics in general. I haven't heard anything at all credible about Warren Sapp being gay; I think anything like that probably stemmed from this quote, which really pissed a lot of people off: "It was something that was really, really on the edge of like gay porn," he said. "That's what we call it. When it's real bad football, that's what we call it: gay porn. Something you don't want to watch. Something you just don't want to see on the TV. Something you don't even want to talk about. That's gay porn." He was referring to the Raiders' poor clock management during a game against the Chiefs in 2006.

Esera Tuaolo (who played on the Vikings' defensive line from 1992-96) is the third former NFL player to reveal his homosexuality [in 2002].

Fourteen years ago, Roy Simmons of the New York Giants came out, and it has been 31 years since Dave Kopay, a running back for the Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers, made his announcement.

The rest keep it quiet

Well, considering at least 10% of the human race is gay, I would say yes, it is very likely. However, I am not aware of any that were actually out of the closet, which was probably wise on their parts. All the football players I grew up with would have probably seriously injured anyone who was openly gay on the team.

Very few have admitted to it. Oh and ignore those gay people with their answers of T.O. and such. Since the question was about Homosexuals.Yeah the one admitted it after his playing carrer and then tried to use it to his advantage, kept harping about being kept out of the Superbowl media event thing last year because he was gay.
