What would happen to a elodea cells if u put salt water on them?

how would that compare to a cell with just plain water on it?

Salt makes it hypertonic, it draws the water out of the cell. So the cell either becomes dehydrated or bursts. Plain water, or isotonic, creates a homeostatic situation.
