I really need to get a raise but my boss wants me to wait for my anniversary date with the company that is in January. I need the money now. I am very unmotivated to work there making what I am.

January is not that far away; so first ask do you really need it now? And will you get enough to really make it matter?

If you decide you need to try, then the trick may be to get your boss on your side. Don't argue with the boss. Ask for help from the boss in getting the raise. Explain why you think you deserve the raise (simply needing it is not a valid reason). What are you contributing beyond the normal such that you deserve it?

Good luck.

Tell your boss how you have helped the company do better. Make it personal. "I developed a new filing system", "I have cross trained and can now do these extra functions", "someone quit and I took on his duties". stuff like that. Bosses are not cold hearted, but they really don't keep up with your hardships. They hired you to do a job and you agreed to do it. You have to show them you are going above and beyond what was called for in the job description. Write things down if you have to, bosses don't mind notes.

just a piece of advise coming from someone who has worked in the field of management, threatening to quit is never, never a way to get what you deserve. in fact you will be getting yourself further away from getting a raise. a person who shows only loyalty to self in a work environment will not get anywhere. there's no value there to the employer. you need to do what you believe is best for you and what you deserve, but with your heart, not threats.

talk to your boss and tell him your situation. If your having money problems, you need to find a better job and if your boss doesnt care about your personal well being, then you shouldnt be working there
