We're thinking about getting a gazebo but don't know why. We like how they look but we don't know if people actually use them and whether or not it's actually worth it.

it's nice to screen it in and add lights - then play cards in there, or eat dinner in there, or sit and read in there, or let the kids sleep in there at night in the summer, you can sit people in there during a gathering or picnic, it's a good outside place to have "nookie" on a nice evening with a sky full of stars, it adds to your property value.....

I've read the other answers, and some are valid,,,even respectful.
If you don't already know why, then leave the money in the budget for other things.
Beyond any aesthetics your choice might include,,, it's a place to do just what others suggest,,,ENJOY,, an aspect of life, you might not, by sitting in your house. It can be a sanctuary, a vacation getaway, a place to go when you can't afford to go any place else,,,and certainly can be enjoyed. You can include a grille, a table, chairs, a bar, a pile of magazines, plants, wind chimes, sun catchers, music, add friends to the mix on occasion, and create "events" involving that structure.

Practice Taebo in your Gazebo. Around this time of the year you could do some social activities like bobbing for apples or playing charades. I don't know. Have a keg party out there. Wish I had a gazebo you spoiled little snit. I would know what to do with it. Are you chronically dumb? Have you bought the book "Gazebos for Dummies"?

wether you get an open, screened in or glassed gazebo,, they are all used for the same thing,, relaxation in a serene and peaceful location!! No they don't work to good in the back yard were the dog runs around in a litlle 12 by 12 area!! you really need a nice garden or woody location,, or by a nice pond!!
