I always put the lyrics in the yahoo search box like so.........
[ "never met a girl like you before" lyrics ]
usually the song name and artist will come up right away. When i did that to these lyrics The Kinks, Flogging Molly, and Jeffrey Steele came up. When there are multiple artists, just download or listen to the song and you'll know if you have the right one.

Could be the Kinks "never met a girl like you before" It's on their Kinkdom CD
The other possible was a big song awhile back called A Girl Like You by Edwynn Collins which is more popish

Is it by any chance titled, "A girl like you" by Edwyn Collins?
It was featured in the original motion picture soundtrack to, "Empire Records."
Starred Liv Tyler & Renee Zellweger. The song had a psychedelic 60s feel to it.
