I'm hoping to buy a few guppies, but I only have a 2 gallon tank so I'm not sure how many to get or what to do. Does anyone know about how much a 5-10 gallon tank costs? Also, I don't know too much about guppies, is there anything I need to know about them before I buy them?

usually a tank (just the tank no accessories) is about $1 per gallon after you get to the 5 gallon size (ie $10 for 10 gal, $30 for 30 gal) when buying guppies I would only get females, only males will get a little agressive w/ each other and males and females will multiply constantly causing the females to die of fatigue. If you do get males and females together make sure you have at least 3 females per male or the males will "bother" the female until her death. For a 2 gal tank I would get about 4 or 5 guppies, if you get all the same sex you might could get a few more but not if you mixed them (they will over crowd quickly)

Not really sure but a 5-10 gallon tank shouldn't cost more then 20.00 maybe even cheaper. Check at Wal Marts. If you want to have babies (they are called fry) you will want a male and a female but get a at least 2 females per male. The males will be prettier. Keep the tank temp 70-75. They will eat the young so make sure you have a lot a places for them to hide or remove them. They are fun little critters to watch. I have them in with my black shark and no he don't eat them. Getting close to fry time turn the heat up a litte bit and fed the brine. Good luck.

A 5-10 gallon tank can range anywhere from $5-$10, I just saw a 10 gal. for $8.00 in PetSmart.
Also guppies are really easy to keep and they multiply quickly. You need the Basics (food, filter, heater, substrate, etc), and you'll be good. Here's an extremely helpful site:

i own 55-60 guppies and ive given away hundreds in the last couple of years.

id advise you to stick to getting only males. guppies go at it like rabbits, and each female will normally have between20-50 fry, every month.

i started with a 10 gallon and 2 guppies. i now have 2 29gallon tanks full of males and a 10 gallon of females for live food breeding.

As has already been said you want one guppy per gallon of water and tanks are fairly cheap. Make certain you cycle the tank before you get your fish!

The site listed below will teach you everything you want to know about guppies

In a 2 gallon tank, you should only have 2 fish maximum. I bought a 10 gallon tank with the complete setup from Walmart for around $30.00. They are easy to take care of and have a lot of babies!! The males have pretty tails and the females are plain.

10 gallon complete set up will cost about 25.00 at petsmart or walmart. I'd go with the 10, because it's only a few dollars more than the 5(sometimes even cheaper).

you better buying off a 10g tank because there is a rule of thumb of "1 inch of a fish per gallon on the beggining but when your tank is cycled you could put more. every 1 and a half month you only add about 2 fish

a 10 gallon tank costs about $20 where i bought one. guppies die easily ive had them before. the boys are colorful, and the girls are plain and usually bigger than the boys. and one thing for sure, do not put them with a chinese fighting fish, the chinese fighting fish will bite them and kill them. oh, and if a boy and a girl guppy have babies an you see them, take the babies out and put them in a different tank or jar, with water that is not from the sink or they'll die.

hope this helps you!
