I want to learn how to make my own simplistic particle accelerator, for *ehm* a bit of a project of mine. However, I would like to be able to create one, that would give me quantative, or at least qualatative results. Anyone have any ideas, or ways to help me do this?

Bad idea. Home-made amateur particle accelerators are the leading cause of black hole formations in the universe. Followed closely by supernovae collapse.

A intense velocity particle would bypass your physique with a small risk of crashing with considered one of your atoms, yet in spite of everything, assuming the particle has electric can charge, the particle will produce ionization alongside its course, that's what could have the unfavorable outcomes of any radiation. in the human physique, this includes nausea, dizziness, blindness, beginning of maximum cancers, or perhaps dying, based on the potential of the radiation. As somebody metioned already, the lively debris popping out of a particle accelerator at the instant are not diverse from the cosmic rays outdoors the Earth's surroundings, so this difficulty is of large difficulty whilst making plans manned area missions.

*ehm* there are several particle accelerators across the world. You should keep your projects to these, in order to get both quantitative and QUALITATIVE results. Otherwise, you will more than likely be spending the next 5 to 10 years, trying to work out the bugs of your homemade version.....unless youre willing to shell out the money?? Then I have to wonder what kind of project you are undertaking.....usually universities and organizations are interested in work of notable quality.

Just a thought.

A "project of yours"? Are you making a nuclear bomb or something?

Modern particle accelerators are very sophisticated and expensive. It's not something you make in your garage.

The Soviet Union probably has some old crappy ones for sale from the 80s. Call 'em up.
