tornadoes are right on, man, right on! i saw my first one in wizard of oz and have been hooked every since. We used to get big dust devils where i grew up and i caught one once and jumped inside. It lifted me off the ground and I went round and round. Hell, i'm still dizzy.

I'm not sure I would use the word cool to describe a tornado. I lived many years in tornado alley and I've seen my share of the things. We would chase them and try to get pictures of them. It was quite the rush to watch them destroy houses, uproot large trees and raise a huge dust cloud. I've always been in great awe of tornadoes and how they strike so quickly and do so much damage in a few minutes. I can't say that I miss living in tornado alley though. I content myself with looking at pictures and news videos. Maybe in my old age I've grown some sense and would be the first one in the fraidy hole (what folks in Arkansas call the below ground level storm cellars found in many back yards in tornado alley).

Tornados suck big time! I am not a storm fan but when people want to see them and are "not afraid of a bit of wind," well It is not the wind itself that is totally evil but what is in the wind. Up to eighty miles an hour the wind has dust, stones, planks, boats, cars, trucks and trees. Above eighty miles an hour it has people in it as well. Watch tornados on TV, much better.

i think hurricanes are better (bcuz we sometimes have the rain from them, like from Katrina. i used to think that tornados were little Carrots that would hurt people while they walk around in the mud. who knows why though?

They are cool to look at far away but they destroy peoples life, so up-close is a no-go.

They're incredible, but they are also devastating and frightening-especially for those of us who've lived through one! I really admire trackers and others who set up systems to observe them and warn people!

They are pretty cool to watch on television but they aren't cool if you have ever been through one.

We had a big one here when I was 13. It was scary and exciting at the same time.
