I sometimes go to college wearing Civil War dresses, complete with the corset underneath and petticoats to fill out the large skirt.

I at first got weird looks, but some other girls thought it was cool and wore one of my dresses to school.

Other times, I wore a pair of spandex stretch jeans, thigh high boots and a wench corset (with the shoulder straps). I got a lot of attention from the guys and nothing was said from administration.

Should people be able to wear what ever they want, as long as it's not slutty, trashy, or maybe a little unusual, like a Victorian dress?

Absolutely! Your drag sounds FIERCE! Don't ever give it up because someone else doesn't like it!

Sure!

In Richmond, though, if you wore Civil War or Victorian or good-quality Elizabethan/early-Colonial gowns out in public, you'd quickly get recruited by one of the many Living History or re-enactment groups. Jamestown & Williamsburg are right down the road, Richmond was the capital of the Confederacy, and there are strong Living History groups at Agecroft Hall (Tudor-era manor house) and Maymont (Victorian mansion).

So who knows- it could lead to a good job opportunity!

I think that as long as it's not distracting, adults should be able to wear whatever they want. They should also be aware though that other people are judging them by their appearance. In college, I see nothing wrong with wearing any of the outfits you mentioned, however in a professional setting, it would be hard to take someone seriously who appears to be wearing a costume.

Absolutely. I have never liked, or followed, fashion trends. Nor do I wear something just because it's "the" current style. I have always believed in wearing whatever I wanted. If you follow current fashions, or styles, everybody looks like everybody else, we lose our individuality.

Wear whatever the heck you want. Heck, I'm genderqueer and sometimes crossdress to work. I always stay within dresscode and and have a union job, so those ignorant people can't say a thing about it! hehe...

It's not always what you are wearing but how you wear it and how well it suits you. Individuality is something to be treasured, not shunned. When it's a business environment though, you'll have to conform.
