Yes this is normal... At first when you get your period it lasts for 4-5 days, because it's something that your body has not experienced yet, but now that your getting older and time is going by, your body adjusts to all the different reactions of hormones and everything begins to stabilize, which leads you to bleed for 7 days and not 4-5.

Sweetie, a period should go for at least 3 days but not longer then 10 days so you're right on and your body is just experience the whole change it's going to be like that for a couple of years and breaks in between your cycle is nothing unusual. Make sure you've got a calendar and wright down when it starts and when it stops EVERY month - you need to know this so you can figure out what kind of cycle you are on - most women have a 28 day cycle meaning 28 days nothing and then for like myself 7 days period and others half a 31 day cycle. So don't worry it is normal.

I wouldn't worry unless it goes on for longer than 9 or 10 days. Sometimes when you're young, your period takes a while to get regular. If you're having really heavy bleeding or a lot of pain, then definitely see a doctor, but otherwise I think you're ok.

Everyones body is different. Mine usually last 7 days but can last up to 14. So count yourself lucky. If you're close to your mom, talk to her about it. There are pills that help to regulate your period. I'd go crazy without mine! But, it could just be one of those things. Sometimes, if your more or less active than usual or are stressed out.. it alters your period. I wouldn't stress over it though. Talk to your mom. She's been through it.

Your body is still adjusting - I am in my 30's and sometimes my period is 4 days, others 8. I have stopped bleeding for a day and the started up again. It is normal - frustrating, but normal.

Periods can last anywhere from 2-10 days. Its no big deal.
If you have a heavy flow for more than 2 weeks, go see a doctor.

3-7 days is normal. It changes from time to time especialy if u are dieting, new to starting period, or stressed or excersicing alot or on the pill. Sometimes it skips, nothing to worry about.

i don't know how old you are now, so it could be that your body hasn't "regulated" yet. when i was younger mine was 7 days and now it's about 5 but it sometimes it's 7. since this is probably the 1st time, i'm guessing there's no real problems. it could be just stress or lack of sleep that's causing it.
