is some ways JAZZ has lost importance BUT, without jazz there would have been no Rock and Roll and no Hip Hop as we know it.............
Jazz is an original American musical art form originating around the start of the 20th century in New Orleans, rooted in African American musical styles blended with Western music technique and theory. Jazz uses blue notes, syncopation, swing, call and response, polyrhythms, and improvisation..................
The music of the United States reflects the country's multi-ethnic population through a diverse array of styles. Rock and roll, country, rhythm and blues, jazz, and hip-hop are among the country's most internationally renowned genres. Since the beginning of the 20th century, popular recorded music from the United States has become increasingly known across the world, to the point where some forms of American popular music are listened to almost everywhere.

It remains very important to real musicians. Not to idols and stars, most of whom are not musicians at all. But any working musician needs to learn what jazz has to teach: about listening, experimenting, trying alternative harmonies, finding intriguing melodic variations.
The music business has not completely killed music.
Players who want to be better, who want to enjoy working with one another, find jazz a great source of inspiration.
