the cops called my house and asked for my mom im 18 and sed is bla bla bla there and i said shes not avalable then i asked if i could take a message and he said well this is the bla bla bla sherifs department and its just a courtesy call what did he meen by courtesy call and the other nite wen i was driving home i saw a cop with a flashlite looking threw a window on another house in the nieghborhood

Your mother should call the sheriff's department to confirm that it was indeed a call from their department. Typically, they don't call; they stop by.

Maybe they had had a call that something was wrong there and they were just checking to see if everything was okay.

THEY OFTEN WILL SOLICIT FOR DONATIONS FOR THE FAMILIES THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THERE SPOUSES GETTING KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. THEY CALL MY HOUSE AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR FOR THIS CAUSE. DON'T BE SO PARANOID!!

you should call the sherriff's dept and ask them about it. Sounds fishy to me.
