one of my best friends is one of those people that would ruin a birthday party. i know this sounds wierd but she is still one of my really good friends. i REALLY dont want to invite her to my party. what do u think... cuz if i do and invite her...it would be ruined. if i do and dont invite her she would be super offeneded and probly hate me. should i just not have a party??

i dont mean like intentionally trying to ruin my birthday party...i mean like she thinks the party is all about her and everyone only pays attention to her cuz shes really popular and stuff. but she really is a good friend and she doesnt realize that she makes my parties miserable. i cant tell her that, it would break her heart. please dont tell me to forget about our friendship. she is one of my bffs. i will not give up our friendship. thank you

Hmmm.. ruined party or ruined friendship. What sort of friend do you have that would ruin your party? Does she do this diliberately? Then it is time to dump the friend. Is she socially inept? Then maybe you can gently tell her what sort of behavior you are expecting at your party. Now. If you can't do either of those, then you have to choose between all of your birthday parties for the rest of your life or your friendship. Because you will have to fight this internal battle every year about this time.

I see........So she's your good friend and you know that she would ruin your birthday party? How good a friend would ruin their own best friend's birthday party? Instead of worrying about that maybe you should reevaluate your friendship with this person. I also suggest going out on your own and tell her you will go out on your own.

i'm curious - what does she do to ruin parties? that information would be useful not only in proposing solutions, but also for the rest of us to understand what behaviors make a friend unwelcome at parties.
i'm fairly sure she'd be pretty offended if you had the party without her.

Have the party just don't tell her about it or tell her not to try and hog the attention because its your birthday and not hers. Hope I helped.

don't have the party go out with friend and family and that way she see it as a family thing.
