Recognize emotion for what it is, a subjective influence that is not goal driven.
Emotion is not logical, it is not definite, and it is consequently not a basis for action. Feelings are important, but they are to be viewed through a lens of logic if they are to be mastered. We've all known someone with a hot temper, or prone to crying. These people fail to make the right or smart choices because they allow their emotions to be their prime decision making factor.
If you recognize this, you will notice your emotions, but will not act on them without objective consideration.
