Do two things! First, tell your mom, NOW! Second, have her make an appointment with your pediatrician or a gynocologist.
Maybe she could call your pediatrician with your symptoms and see if he (or she) wants to see you or refer to someone else. I won't lie to you and say a pelvic exam is fun. It's not. But it also is not traumatic. Maybe seeing a female gynie would make you less scared. Either way, these specialists are used to seeing young and nervous patients and use their skills and compassion to put their patients and ease and make the exam as comfortable as possible. Good luck to you.

Sometimes using birth control to regulate your period is a good option for some. Maybe if you let the doctor tell you exactly what they are going to do before, it will help. Seeing a female doctor will help too. There is nothing wrong with being a private person but put your health first.
Also, dont be afraid to tell your mom about how you feel about going to the doctor. Mom's have a way with making you feel comfortable about these things.
Good luck.

I agree with what everyone said, You need to tell your Mom and go see a doctor, I am a nurse and I work in Pediatrics. If you like and trust your pediatrician ask him (or her) for advice. can he help?? or can he suggest someone sensitive to young women, I know a couple of our Pediatrians who will reccomend who they think are the best personality wise for the patient!!

The thing that would worry me is the amount you are bleeding and the bad pains. There could be something really serious going on and the sooner you get it checked out the better.

Good luck

Lauren, you sound like I did when I was 16. I had a period every 18 days and they woudl be very heavy. I also had bad cramps and occasionally passed out. I found out when I was 23 that I had endometriosis. Sweetheart, whether you are private or not, you must and I repeat MUST see a doctor. Please tell your mom. She can help and support you. It is a scary thing.

IF you have endometriosis (very common these days for some reason), at your age, you may be able to save yourself the trouble I had at 23, which was losing an ovary. I had endo on my bladder, bowels, uterus and both ovaries as well as fibroid tumors. These can cause MANY or even no symptoms. Your body is telling you something. I tell you this NOT to scare you, but to let you know the serious this is on your reproduction possibilites later, after marriage.

One footnote: I am VERY proud to know another girl who is saving herself for her husband. My husband and I were both virgins when we married and it was so special to know we were eachothers firsts and only's. Keep us posted on your other problem if you can (posting messages after it is resolved. I will check back) :)

I think I know exactly what you are going through. But, let me tell you that I may not be here now if waited longer than I did. I don't like anyone picking and poking at me down there in my private area. Get someone to go with you like I did and they can hold your hand and comfort you and really it will only take a few minutes but it will seem like a life time.
I want you to live long and have that wonderful wedding you deserve.

i went through the same kinds of things through jr high and high school. I have always had different cycles, sometimes super heavy and other times not so heavy. It can be normal for your body to be trying to regulate itself. My problems seemed to go away until one time i started, and it never stopped. I was 20 by this time and went to the dr. at my college and she put me on the pill to help it stop. I was so relieved when it did! Anyways, i have been there, totally freaking out and crying cuz i was worried. But don't wait, talk to your mom about it. She's not going to be mad or anything. It can be scary going to the dr, but its scarier to just sit around and wait for something??? good or bad to happen!! Your mom will want to make sure you're okay, and so will the dr!

well i had my period when i was 9 as well now I'm 25 and my period is still not normal some times i get it twice in one month or not at all.i also get allot of cramps when I'm on it but i usually take a tea maid out of chamomile it helps me.but i think you should stop seeing your pediatrician and go to a gyno. once a girl gets her period she should start seeing a gynecologist.you might feel more comfortable with a women gynecologist

you really need to get checked you could really have a problem. and about your shyness problem, im sure everyones shy about
that but a woman has to do that in her life. I'm sure every woman in this world has been checked. i understand how it feels and i hope all the best for you. Don't be scared just face the fear and get it over with..i know its sounds easier said than done. But you really need to get help.
I hope the best for you

im sorry but you need to bite the bullet and tell your folks and go see a doctor otherwise it sounds like you might end up in an emergency room, which is not a private place for your most private of places to be examined

Honey, don't be scared to be seen by a doctor. It really isn't a big deal for them because that's part of their job. Don't delay. Tell ur parents about what's happening to u and they'll get you to a doctor. Tell them u feel more comfy if it's a woman doctor, okay? Hope u'll be alright hon. take care.
