He has clearly offended me and many others both Jewish and Christian. I'm not sure if he's an American citizen, but he has every right as an American resident to be an Anti-Semite. That's what "freedom" is all about. You can be a KKK Klansman or a Farrakhan freak or a homosexual hater, black hater, whatever. It's your right to be ignorant and racist and bigoted. But it's not your right to infringe on the freedoms of others who don't want to hear your inciteful, hateful and offensive comments. This is especially true for influential celebrities like Mel Gibson. They don't have a legal responsibility, but they have an ethical and moral responsibility to keep their nasty beliefs to themselves because spreading hate with your words may be legal, but is IMMORAL, plain and simple. To answer your question, in order for me to personally forgive Mel, he'd have to actively learn why his comments and beliefs hurt others (like the families of holocaust survivors who know first hand that their relatives were singled out for mass extermination by the Nazis simply because of their religion...yes Mel, your father denying the truth to that statement HURTS.) He'd have to learn empathy, sympathy and compassion for ALL people and yes, he'd have to prove it. I myself will never pay a penny to see one of his movies again until he does so. Words are not always enough. He will actually need to CHANGE his beliefs by educating himself and assimilating himself into the cultures and religions of people different from himself. I no longer have an interest in his apologies or anything else he has to SAY. I wanna know what he's going to DO.

i think of there are extra pressing information memories than Mel's intolerance. He spoke his "drunken" concepts. no longer eloquent yet he has the final suited to unfastened speech, no remember who he verbally abuses. i'm no longer Jewish, yet his apology spoke volumes. Political correctness is itself an oxymoron.

He's really going to have to prove to me that he is a changed man. He's really going to have to really repent with the Jewish people. He had no right to say the things that he said. Being drunk is not an excuse.

Just fess up to what he did, that he has a problem and is trying to better himself. I hate the celebs that blame everyone else, what a cop out.

I think that rather than seeking OUR forgiveness he should seek it from the Almighty.

He said nothing against me personally, so it is not my place to forgive or not to forgive him.
