For the vocab words, do mental reminders
for example- a few years ago i had to memorize all the state capitals
so i made some tricks-
Lansing, Michigan- Michigan has a huge lake and not a lot of land-lansing
or things like that- even if they make no sence they can help.

good luck!

If you don't have anyone to ask you questions from your flashcards, or if you feel you will not be able to focus if you are studying with a friend, it helps to make the notecards, then lay them all out on the floor in a big square (with the definitions face down). When you're studying, read the word and flip it over to see the definition; once you've done that a couple of times, try it the other way (words face down, definitions face up). Move the cards around in the grid to different positions so that you won't just memorize which word is in which place. It may seem complicated but it helped me get a perfect score on a hard *** essay test.

mnemonics have always helped for me. The less time you have to study the more ridiculous they become. I hate to admit it, but many of the mnemonics I used over the years were only intended to help me learn the topic for a day or so, so I don't remember a lot of them today. if you don't know what a mnemonic is, here's an example:

ROY G BIV will help you learn the colors of the rainbow in the order they appear. Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo and Violet.

Another is HOMES for the great lakes. Huron Ontario Michigan Erie and Superior.

Hope this helps.

Get some index cards. Write a question on one side and an answer on the other. You could even write a "hint" down in the corner of the question side if you needed to, and keep it covered with your thumb unless you need the hint. Don't stress over the stuff you don't have -- you don't have it -- not much you can do.

I use notecards or index cards for vocabulary...put the word on the front and definition on the back..quiz yourself or have a friend quiz you with the cards..
