What kind of "white history "& which whites.whould it be English history, French Canadian history, Irish history , Scottish history or American Indian history because I would need to study all these people to learn where I came from.Lets do away with "color history " & teach good old American history. Yes there are parts of American history that are not to nice like slavery, the treatment of Irish in the north , The Chiness out west or even the Japaness during WW2, But if we taught the REAL American history these thing would be brought out to the light for all to see.Who knows Maybe us Americans will learn something about ourselves.

No kidding. I don't see why we should have one month dedicated to a race! If that's the case, we should have a white history month, Asian, Eskimo, etc. If you haven't checked out some propoganda already, there's a site called www.cafepress.com that has t-shirts that say "In this country, we have no place for hyphenated Americans." Hey, btw.. my husband is an IRR Marine.

The fact that you suggest a white history month means you have totally missed the point (actually two) how long have our students been taught that the civil war was fought to free the slaves? Is that white history or black history? Its niether, its american history. How about truthful history month? Like the vietnam war was fought to make the military industrialist rich, that the civil war was fought because the north was in bad shape financially and wanted the souths money? Why does it have to be drawn along racial lines anyway? The people these students knew about is a symptom of a failed education system. I bet they know every character on any one of a number of video games or cartoons. Are you aware that very few african american students know who Martin Luther King is? The answer, white guy, would shock you. Its not racial, what you are seeing is a failed system.

well .. why is there BET (Black Entertainment Television)? Why can't there be a WET ?
Black history is basicaly the whites creation if you think about it...if white people wouldn't have done blacks the way they did there would probaly never be a BET... so in a sense whites can thank themselves for the repercussions felt in todays society. Think of it as a small price to pay for such a major injustice on blacks of the slave days. I personaly believe ANY racisim should be severly punishable by law no matter what your ethinticity. Talk about the war on terror... racism is our own worst enemy here in the states... look at what happend in L.A. with the whole Rodney King thing... that could happen in your neck of the woods just as easy... It's just senseless to hate people because of how they look when they are born that way and have no control over there appearance whatso ever, unless of course your Michel Jackson.

Right on! Unfortunately, there are too many spineless people who wouldn't like it because it's not nice. Every other color gets their month, week, or whatever. Not the White Man. He's the evil oppressor! Unbelieveable! What happened to the American Melting Pot? Now everyone wants their own claim to fame. It's disgusting.

I had this same conversation with a few people tonight. Why is history focused so much on the African American and not on the European (white) people? How many poeple know the that the Irish enlisted in the US military and fought in the invasion of Mexico? When they realized what they were doing was wrong, they deserted and were later beheaded or imprisoned. How many poeple know that the white man was also enslaved? Why is this part of history not taught in our school systems?

Are you kidding? History as it has been documented and taught has historically been "white history." Hence, the reason why Black History Month and Women's History Month were created. And, most people's knowledge of history is poor to be sure. Your posing this question is a reminder of how important it is to continue to have an emphasis on Black History, Women's History and diversity education in general, as your question highlights your lack of awareness.

Nope! Shame on you!!!! Can't do it. We can not have a white history month, nor a station on tv called WET (white entertainment television), nor a college fund called United Caucasian Education Fund, or a National Association for the Advancement of Caucasian People - why that would be racist now wouldn't it....

The Democrats aren't desperate enough for white votes to buy them with "history months" or Affirmative Action.

I taught my kids the truth at home. One told a third grade teacher, "We don't believe in Martin King, at our house".

They teach complete history in schools. These students only chose to recall the names you mentioned. (I think you mean Idi Amin).
