Almost all cities have a Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. You can look it up in the phone book. He must APPLY for an apprenticeship. In some states it pays more than in others. Usually one can expect about $12/hr as an apprentice. It goes up from there. (There are a few states as high as $19/hr for an apprentice pipe fitter.)
