Could you rephrase your question in terms of ... well ... a question?

Here's what I know about the Daniel Chiras case. He is an environmental studies professor at Colorado College, and wrote a textbook on the subject of environmental science. The book was well on its way to being accepted into the Texas school system, but then the Texas Board of Education changed its mind after active lobbying by conservative groups. Their reason cited? "Factual errors." He is suing the board for censorship.

The "factual errors" cited by the conservatives included things like the inordinately large contribution by the U.S. to greenhouse gasses (5% of the world's population contributing 25% of greenhouse gasses).

But it also includes references that contradicted biblical estimates of the world's age at 6,000 years old. E.g., when Chiras referred to the ice ages "millions of years ago" (and it's hard to talk about short term environmental cycles, without accurate discussion of longer term cycles), the conservative lobbyists wanted this changed to ice ages of the "distant past."

This, BTW, is a lovely illustration of how creationism isn't just a harmlessly quaint discussion about our origins ... it is dangerously *anti-science*. It prevents laypeople (who in a democracy, affect policy decisions) from actually understanding real scientific issues that may be *very* important ... not to mention causing laypeople to actively distrust scientists and other experts when they try to tell us something urgent.
