Okay, I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this sort of thing or if you all knew if it's abnormal..
I started taking the pill around August 1st and prior I had pretty irregular periods but when they did come they lasted 5 days. Since starting the pill they have lasted 8-10 days with maybe only three weeks between them. Aren't they supposed to begin every 4 weeks? Why would they be lasting into the active pills? I even tried to skip my period by taking the actives and skipping the placebos but my period still came. I decided to just stop taking them a few days ago (pregnancy really isn't an issue right now) so that at least my periods would go back to normal and it looks like I'm starting a period again even though my last one ended just a week ago...any ideas? I hate this.

Excellent answers already left! Additionally, the pill that you were on may not have been the right pill for you. Side effects can be lessened or take away with a possible pill change.

you really need to stay on the pill for about 3 months before your body fully adapts to them. you can have abnormal bleeding during the first few months-this is considered normal. on the pill, you should have periods every 28 days, once you start the placebo pills you should begin bleeding. sometimes it lasts into the active pills but should stop soon after you take them. missing or taking pills late will cause more bleeding problems. i believe you may have disturbed things more by skipping the placebo pills. you decided to stop taking them a few days ago, of course you are going to bleed again, that is normal when you stop your active pills. same thing happens when you take placebos or take pills late or forget. the birth control pill is an excellent way to control your cycles, i strongly suspect that your problems are related to your taking liberties with the dosing and stopping them out of the blue. you did not give the pills a fair trial. i would suggest restarting the pill but talk to your doc first about the appropriate way to take them.

You might be getting some break through bleeding. That normally resolves itself in several months. No one is quite sure of the impact of skipping the placebos. Seasonale, a new birth control pill, has periods every three months. It takes a couple months for your body to adjust to birth control.

You should not have stopped taking your pills. Now your cycle is really going to be out of wack. Let this period go by and then go back to your doctor and get a different birth control pill. The one you took isn't the right one for you. You should always talk to your doctor first before you stop birth control pills. Talk to your doctor.

It is normal to have those effects. I tried a birth control pill once and i bled for 3 weeks straight. It could be that your body is just getting used to the pill and that it will take more time. I reccomend going to your doctor and telling him or her what is going on. Some pills just dont mix well with certain people. It could be that you need to switch to another brand. well hope this helps!!
