I think that a wise person, if they really want to know whether the zodiac really indicates something about people's personalities, will try to learn the zodiacs as much as they can and then observe people (when you know their birthday) to see if they match the descriptions.

Personally, I have seen many correspondences between a person's position on the Sun Sign of the Zodiac and certain characteristics of their personality. But it takes time and patience to see it. You really have to know a LOT about each zodiac and learn them backwards and forwards.

And you have to take the time to learn about your friends, family members, and really strive to understand them without judgment.

If you really want to know, and you do all this, if nothing else, you'll learn a lot more about people than you ever thought you could, and more importantly, you'll learn to be able to look at people dispassionately without judgment!

I have noticed similarities that would suggest the personality traits associated with the zodiac signs are more than just coincidental. So I think that it can be helpful in understanding people but can also be hurtful if you judge others based on only what their sign says. Try it as a interesting Hobey and see for yourself.

Definitely no! Every culture has some way of storing and classifying their knowledge and experiences, for that some of them use mnemonics(memory devices) some books carry some of the stored knowledge in their narratives, others in secret codes or signs within the superficial writing. Unfortunately, like astrology, and mythology, the knowledge stored in the writings have become outdated and rarely have some application or relevance to our times. Some superstitious people insist in finding universal meanings, prophesies, truths, and divinations on certain books, signs, and amulets. The truth is that most of the peddlers of the so called "occult" have only one motivation: money.
I do believe that there are some people who really can perceive, sense, rationalize, and analyze, circumstances with superior skill and gift than the average person. They can formulate and even prognosticate some future events with a greater degree of probability than those us who are not skilled.

That depends highly on whether you are discussing a person's individual astrological chart or the general references give to each sign. The individual chart will give a clearer picture. As a Leo who is working in a committee with about 3 other Leos, I find the stereotype excessive. If we were all crave the spot light creatures, nothing would get done and the committee would split really quickly. Thankfully that is not the cast and projects are going well.

I really don't believe in Zodiac signs. I'm a Gemini.

It's all hokum. I don't read or follow any horoscopes. It's just negative human behavior, looking for easy ways to divide up into ingroups and outgroups.

We've overpopulated the planet, and people are constantly seeking devices to separate themselves from the masses, to make some acceptable and others not.

We've got religion, horoscopes (I'm a Libra born in the year of the monkey), race, and a few other arbitrary nostrums that are meaningless as far as reliable ways to divide people.

Sometimes I think the characteristics of people who share a particular sign are similar, for instance, Leo's tend to be independent and conceited, while Gemini's seem to have a tough time making decisions. This does not mean that you are tied to your 'sign' and cannot be a Gemini who is independent and conceited or a Leo who has a difficult time making decisions, it just means that you are stepping outside the norm as far as horoscopes are concerned.

I am stuck in the middle. I do believe but I dont. I am a Taurus we "are": reliable, stable, capable, practical and resourceful.

I can agree witht he reliable, stable, capable, and practical.

I can be resourceful with some things but we are suppose to be highly methodical, pacing ourselves to get the job done and working deftly with the mechanism of how it's all put together. That I dont agree with. I am the biggest procrastinator!

I have read a lot on the other zodiac signs also. My boyfriend is a Capricorn and everything they say about a capricorn fits him to T.

If you would like to read up on Zodiac signs and their characteristics please go to the link I have provided below. It is extremely EXTREMELY interesting.

If you are basing your opinions about the science of the zodiac on the trite and mundane garbage that you read in the tabloids and do not have a full understanding of the significance of the rising signs and cusps involved nor an understanding of the difference between qualified astrological scientists and the hype printed in the columns run in the mass produced media----I would reserve my thoughts about it until I came to some better input and knowledge !!!
