In U.S. political campaigns of any kind, especially presidential campaigns, why does it seem like wealthy people always get picked on,whether it's about taxes or anything else? They're a small portion of the U.S. population. They're also made to appear like they don't have to work as hard as the rest of us.

This doesn't make sense to me,because I've known some hard working wealthy people. If any wealthy or well to do people of any race or both sexes can answer this question, please do,no matter what party you belong to.

Leftists engage in 'class envy' to get their way. They know there are more non-wealthy people than wealthy people. They try to incite 'envy' in those non-wealthy people, saying that if only the Leftist politician can be elected he/she will level out the playing field by taking from the wealthy and giving to those who support the Leftist.

Socialists/Progressives/Communists have used this technique in one country after another, either to get elected or to motivate the non-wealthy to overthrow the existing government and put the Leftists in power.

It is a game of numbers, not truth, when leftists seek power. They know that in any society there is a dominance of people who would like to take from those who are wealthier than themselves.

They are usually independently wealthy, or are Republicans supported by business and the very wealthy!

There have been some that have not been, but campaigns are all about who can raise and spend the most money!!

If it didn't have to do with wealth you would have more than 2 candidates on the ballot! That is if you are not black and live in Florida!

I am wondering how much it is costing the oil companies to lower gas prices for the elections? I guess it doesn't really matter, they pay almost nothing in taxes!

One reason I can think of is that wealthy people have an unfair advantage - they can donate large sums of money to a candidate or to defeat propositions they don't like. Because of this they have the power to influence the course of all of our lives.

It's not about the fact that they are wealthy. It's about how they can use that wealth and how the power that wealth can bring can easily be abused. Look at how some of the wealthiest people in this country have used their wealth in abusive ways and how they break laws and believe they are above the law. Kenneth Lay, the CEO of Enron was responsible for thousands of people losing their life savings and retirement money.

Halliburton, which was once headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, has been the recipient of government contracts without having to bid for them like other companies.

The list goes on and on....but hopefully you can understand why it is that "wealthy people always get picked on."

I think that they pick on the wealthy people is because 1. They have a lot of money that the government wants so they can pay off bills. 2. Because they know when there campaigning is because politicains can get that money to succeed in there race. I believe that politians need to stop asking money from the wealthy and need to spend there own money.

Well I'm not wealthy, although I aspire to be... the wealthy get "picked on" because we live in an entitlement society these days were everyone wants something for nothing...so the
Democrats, primarily will say...we'll just tax the rich, so we can give you some more stuff, you lazy jack ***, now give me your vote!

Well wealthy people tend to be a target because many of them didnt earn what they have, they inherited it. Also having money makes money. If you gave me 5 millions dollars I would be able to invest it and live off the dividends if I wanted to for the rest of my life and not do one thing for society.

But many rich people ARE hard working like you say. The repubilcan vision is to give tax breaks to business to encourage reinvestment in business. The democrats love to tax the death out of business (which stiffles it) I guess it just depends on what the people with money are doing with it. Jesus told us the best things we can be doing with our money and its not owning fancy boats and houses, its blessing others!

quite simply it's because most people are making 60,000 a year or less and ther're making the people who are making a lot of money to have there way and are able to do everything the way they want to.

You are under a delusion -- everyone who runs for office in the US gets attacked in one way or another and is subject to intense scrutiny.
