When I was in high school, the school band was 10% of the entire school population. More people came to the football games to see us than to see the game... we knew because the stands emptied after half-time. Homecoming queen was a band member at least 3 years in a row that I know of, if not more. With new techniques and a new appreciation for what people can do musically, being a band geek isn't all that bad. =) We also did cool things on the sidelines, like play Beastie Boys. We did Brass Monkey and Girls. That always got the crowd jumping. Those were some of the best times...

Well, i'm in the band at my high school and honestly i feel like the biggest nerd ever for it but I find it really fun and if you do too then that's all that matters, who cares whether it's cool or nerdy just do it if you enjoy it and block everyone elses thoughts about it out.

I loved band. I loved band. I loved band. It was greeeeeeeaaaaat. I played drums. We got out of class early to
go to the football games. We had pep rallies in the gym. We went to the games out of town. The band bus on the way home at 11:30 pm on Friday nights was.....ooouu lah lah.....sweeeeet!
You should join the band. Music is great and a hell of alot of fun.
Music people just naturally have a sense of humor. It is fun like crazy. Join the band. You will love it. I am 47 and to this day, my days in band in Jr. High and High School still remain the most enjoyable times of my entire life. Go join!!!! You will love it!

I'm in my high school band and while it's not necessarily considered "cool", its not really a social stigma. Anyways people always seemed amazed when you tell them you can play an instrument, while marching, and finding your correct place on the football field.

i always yell "ROCK ON" to the marching band in kind of a joking way but its cool they go out there and play even if not everyone pays attaention or appreciates it as much as they should. band is cool. they wear shiny hats. my good friend Andy plays the keyboard in band. he's awesome. he's the bomb diggity. peace.

there is no definate-its just a stereotype.....everyone think Marching Band and Band=NERD....im in Orchestra and ppl call me a NERD.....even though no one uses that word Nerd anymore.....it's really played out. If your in Band-it's OK, dont let ppl get you down on that crap.....

I'm a rock musicians, guitar and bass. I don't find it nerdy, and I don't find football cool, it is what you like.
