Yes, I do, so it's made fresh. Here on the west coast they put mustard on every burger so I order it with no mustard and I get a piping hot fresh burger every time. Do the same and you will too. In places where they do not add mustard say no ketchup and it also will be fresh.

I don't agree. Some places keep the burgers on the buns in the steamer, and then add to them to make the sandwiches. Therefore, your burger would technically just go straight from the steamer to the microwave and then be wrapped and given to you. No fresher than any other burger. Now if you ask for it to be right off of the broiler, that is the way to get it fresh. But just asking for a plain burger, in my past work experience, is just making the cook's job easier, not giving you fresh food.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with what you do, it just doesn't make sense to me. Unless you don't like how much of something they put on your sandwich, then it would make sense to order it without and add it yourself.

Hmm....never thought about the plain food request to get it fresh. Pretty cool idea. Of course, you can also go to a place that makes it fresh. In-N-Out makes it right there in the kitchen so that it's always fresh so they say. Jack-In-The Boxy says they make it when you order it and from what I've seen of them, that's correct.
And of course some folks will say if you want fresh, make it at home and stop eating fast food. But that's not what you asked and so I have to say, you are the first one I've seen that had that idea

BK has a holding bin so it won't work there. Most fast food restaurants have them. So their not as fresh as you think. When you go to BK, tell them you want one put thru the broiler and you'll wait for it. Also tell them not to put it in the microwave after its been cooked. That way the bun will be fresh also.

I don't ever bother ordering it special to make sure its fresh as I have worked in enough fast food places to know that your sandwich is not going to be any fresher by doing so. The places that do have bins have then to keep them warm between making and the person grabing and placing them on your tray which normally is just as long regardless of if it is special order or not, because unlike years ago fresh is now so much in demand that believe it or not we don't premake sandwiches except the real big sellers where those we only do during big rushes so as to not keep you waiting but its one of those things where I grab a sandwich that was premade and the sandwich for my order is being made...by the time it is made and in the bin its being grabbed by the guy at the next registar to fill his order...and the sandwiches that get made like that are closely watched to make sure there is not to many and that they don't get to old. Besides that the meat is precooked and if there is any part of your sandwich that might be old its your meat.....if you are actually really wanting a totally fresh sandwich this is where you need to make the special request....well done, or fresh....no salt..etc. Of course if you do this be ready to wait....fresh nuggets will take at least 4 minutes of waiting for example...and depending on how busy they are you might end up waiting a good 10 minutes.if they have enough going on. As far as the fries go...get out of your car come inside and request fresh fries...while most of the time expectaiolly during a rush its not an issue at all as fries are being boxed and tossed ina bag as soon as they are up...in drive thru they are more likely to just say well they are fresh inside you have the ablity to make sure that the fries you get really are...you get this ablity cause you can watch them.
Also its very tacky to open your sandwhich up and add stuff at the registar. Wait till your at your table or in your car. Its one thing to be picky its another to be snobby. We do try our best to provide you with fresh, fast and friendly service...but you know there is a lot more to the job than pleasing the customers we also have to please the bosses...and so while I might want to wait to get you the fresh sandwich or fries my boss standing right there wants you served and away from the counter so that I can help the next customer.....but as I said if you make the correct statements I'd have to wait...just say you want your fries from the next basket that comes up....or can you please make sure that my sandwhich is fresh....and as far as wanting a sandwich with just ketchup and mustard order it that way it will be freshly made as I don't know of a sandwich that comes only with that..at least not at McDonald's there isn't a hamburger, cheeseburger and the doubles as well as Quarters all have ketchup musturd pickle and onion.

Great idea I never thought about that for the burgers. But I'll tell you what I do about the fries I order them no salt that way they have to make a fresh batch and give me mine before they empty them in the ben to be salted.

I never tried but I will start if I go out to eat at a restaurant.I'm not evil but I know how the restaurant business goes and if they don't want to hear me to bad.I'm the type of person that will order something and make sure they cook my food fresh I tell them and watch them to make sure they are doing what I ask,cuz they will hear me if they don't if that was them eating that food they wouldn't eat the crap they try to give us.But good one I'll do it next time, thanks for the tips.

When I go to BK, which is rarely, I order a veggie burger, and since they're so rare they have to make it fresh anyway ^_^

I ask for no pickles so that it can be made fresh, 95% of the time it is but when it isnt, I have noticed they add an extra slice of cheese to cover up their mistake which is good for me.
