I have oily skin and bad acne...I have tried seriously everything from Pro-active to clean and clear to neutrogena to noxema to arbonne and everything in between. Salycilic acid and benzoyl peroxide do not work for me. I was looking into emu oil, but i dont know if it would make my skin even more oily or not, and if it would look good under foundation. I wear make-up as well, and since my face gets really oily quickly, i was looking for a good foundation that covers up blemishes and also does not look oily. I guess I am looking for suggestions about any face washes, creams, makeup or treatments that work well. I am a college student, and I do not have all that much money, so I usually do not get real expensive stuff. Thanks!

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Ask your doctor for a prescription for Benza-Clin. Also, I find that Neutrogena sensitive skin face wash works. Make sure you moisturize after every time you wash your face. It will make it less oily-believe it or not. I have also heard that putting egg whites on your face and letting it dry can do miracles if you do it every night for like 3 months. Lastly, no matter what the product says, no cover-up or foundation is going to prevent or treat acne for you. Better to let your skin "breathe" (the products that say they do this are lying) than cover it up. Maybe have your parents splurge on a trip to a dermatologist when you go home for a visit. Good Luck!

Mineral Makeup - not any old powder makeup, but MINERAL makeup is far better than any wet foundation. Your skin can breathe.

Also use Mario Badescu drying lotion on your breakouts. Don't shake it up, use it exactly how it says to use it, and you won't be disappointed. The stuff is fantastic. Be sure to get a supply of q-tips for using it.

You can find it on ebay. I just looked at the auction and you can get the whole facial kit including the drying lotion. (It was auction
#180035833144 - and, NO it is not my auction.) It can also be bought at MarioBadescu.com.

Good luck!

hun...i have the same problem as u but not very severe....try clinique foundation or get power foundation or foundation fron loreal which has oil control. for the pimples try differin gel and eryacne gel. just take a small amount, mix them together and apply at night and wash it off in the morning with cold or tepid water. ohh yer....wash your face with your cleaner and then apply it.........try sleeping on your back at night coz it makes it easy for fluids to flow and try to get hair off your face when going to bed and dony eat alot off chille food...hope that helps and good luck.

This will be as about as cheap as it gets. Dawn soap, wash your face morning and at night. Use rubbing alcohol to help remove the oil from your face before applying base.
