Okay, the question is, i have a laptop with two slots for RAM. I have to remove a simple cover to access where the RAM chips go. THe thing is, i can see the slot for the first chip really easily (plain view), the second one seems to be under a white plastic/vinyl covering which i don't know if i should remove. I have my A+/N+ certifications but i know that there are somethigns on laptops you just don't want to touch or take out. My question, how can i find out exactly what chips i can and can't remove? Where can i find an owners manual or service manual for a Toshiba satellite 2805-s402? any advice is much welcome.

Well what i think is that 1 slot with the cover on it is the one that can not be tamperd with. But i think you could upgrade the slot that you can see. You should check the website out.

First of all, you can touch whatever you want on the insides of ur computer, ur not going to hurt it, everything crucial is protected so you wont get it open. (like the hard drive). Installing your own memory is quite simple, just make sure your static free... so get a metal bar and keep ur foot on it or something. the covering should be easily removable so just slide it around or move the brackets to release it and change ur memory, everything will be fine.

Memory is safe to touch, just make sure you are grounded.

Some laptops have the first memory chip soldered in and only the second one is removable.

Visit Toshibas website for service info om this model.

I Tried to manually install memory; messed up my computer and i do not suggest anyone try this if not familiar with installing new hardware.
use a tech to do that for you

Go to crucial.com and run their system scanner. It will let you know exactly what you have and what you can plug in.
