I understand jumping all over eachother when they win a division championship, and when they advance to the league championship series...but why all the champagne before they win a penant or World Series? Don't you think it's too soon and takes the focus off of the upcoming games. For example the Dodgers were spraying champagne all over when the clinched the wildcard...then they got swept!

I agree. Less than 15 years ago, winning one of four divisions was a big deal (only 4 of 28 teams advanced to the postseason in 1993). Now, 8 of 30 teams will advance to the postseason.

I think celebrating a LCS win is justified. But all these celebrations for the Division, Wild Card, advancing to the LCS are just silly. Players should keep their eye on the real prize - the World Series.

I agree with most of the answers saying they're going a little overboard, unless you're the Tigers. They went 19 years without reaching the playoffs and almost set the record for the worst season a few years ago. They deserved the celebration when they clinched a playoff spot and especially when they defeated the "so called" best line-up in baseball history. That Leyland guy is alright.

heh no thats just silly, football players celebrate everything baseball players are generally stoic. However, due to the long nature of the grind of baseball, its a big event to clinch. 162 games they are entitled to celebrate if they want. football players however, well they just celebrate every little tackle good play or score, its sickening really.

For teams like the Dodgers, it's really exciting. It's not an everyday thing for them and it's a serious accomplishment.

Well I wuld think that you would be happy that you went past the first level but thats me. I'd celebrate. but I don't think they go all out and stuff. They celebrate a little . When they win the world series thats when they go all out.

No - I think its exciting for them and their fans. They just got their chance to head towards the World Series. Its a huge accomplishment. Why would someone else's fun and excitement bother you?

They behave like uncontrollable teenagers. They serve as poor examples for our young people with all the liquor they consume and spray around in celebration. Actually many of them appear as though they have never grown up!!

Chow!!
