You tube gets millions of hits a day and has thousands of videos uploaded which means its a site with a lot of traffic. It is a great place for advertisers to place ads and for people to see these ads. Companies pay you tub to put these adds on their site making them a billion dollar company

If someone pays it that sets its price and its value. They paid that because they think they can make more than that in profit by selling ads or by peddling stuff to people who view it.
