Open system restore like you're going to restore to an earlier point. On the left side of the box that opens, you'll see 'Restore settings'. The box that opens will be on the System restore tab. At the top, you'll see the 'Turn off system restore' box. Check this box and click apply. You'll get a prompt asking to the effect if this is really what you want to do. Click yes or ok.This will delete all of the restore points and free up hard drive space. Make sure you uncheck the box and click apply again to turn it back on. You wouldn't want to leave it off in case something happens and you need it.
