i believe that a 3-5 year difference is suitable and probably is best in most situations, but at the same time, love is love. age doesnt matter as long as the bond and spark is there and the maturity level is compatable.

I crushing on a guy who is so far older than me that I need therapy. JK, I think it depends on the age. If you're a teen, then yes, 1 - 3 years, but if you're over 18, it can range from 3 months to 20 years. I know the question is what do I consider ok, and I think that a 20 year difference is fine, as long as BOTH are over 18.

If the people are under 16 years old, I think same age or a year older. If 18 and over, a year younger and 3 or 4 years older. If the people are both in their mid twenties and up, I believe the people should judge for themselves.

It depends on the age bracket you are talking about.

I don't think it's all that good an idea for an 18 year old to be dating a 30 year or older.... just too different life stages.

But when you are in your 30s, dating someone in your 40s or 50s is probably not a big deal.

When i'm 80, i'm sure I'll be dating someone in their 50's...lol!

If you are under the age of 18 you should go out with someone under the age of 18. After that, the field is wide open. I have a friend who is 26 and dating a 40 year old and is madly in love with him and he with her. If you meet someone and you connect With each other then age doesn't make a difference. Myself, I am just 5 years younger than my hubby, but we are soul mates!!

I don't think we should allow society to dictate age restrictions in relationships. There is a 21 year age gap between my boyfriend and I (I'm 27). I have never been happier in my life. Just like with any relationship, it needs to have the essentials like trust, understanding, communication, interests, goals, etc. If those elements are in place, then nothing else matters. Love is the greatest feeling in the world, and age shouldn't stop anyone from experiencing it.

My wife is 5 years younger. It's fine as long as it's 10 years or less, so you never end up being split across 3 decades: ex: 29 and 40.

my opinion is only referring to people 18 and over: I think that 1 -3 years is ok also, but there are those rare occasions when 5-6 years older is appropriate for a particular couple, but it's rare. very very rare.

I once dated a guy who was 26 years older then me, but my cutoff was typically 20 years my senior. My hubby is nearly 5 years older then me.
