Mother of 3 speaking......so listen up!! (;

First be sure to hydrate yourself with plenty of clear liquids, especially water. Eat small frequent meals instead of pigging out.

Elevate your feet at least 12 inches above your heart ( or at least evenly w/your knees).

Minimize any unnecessary activity, i.e. chores around the house, and even sex for right now.

If the BH's don't stop within 4-6hrs I would contact my Labor Delivery for further instructions, they may want to monitor you on the machine, and do a vaginal exam to check for dilation.

Good luck Sweetie!

If you are below 37 weeks and you are having regular braxton hicks or conCall your caregiver right away if you haven't reached 37 weeks and your contractions are becoming more frequent, rhythmic, or painful, or if you have any of these possible signs of preterm labor:
• Abdominal pain, menstrual-like cramping, or more than four contractions in an hour (even if they don't hurt).

• Any vaginal bleeding or spotting.

• An increase in vaginal discharge or a change in the type of discharge — if it becomes watery, mucousy, or bloody (even if it's only pink or blood-tinged).

• Increased pelvic pressure (a feeling that your baby's pushing down).

• Low back pain, especially if it's a new problem for you.
traction, 5 or more within an hour you should call your doctor immediately.

I have had 4 babies. And had braxton hicks with all 4. However, they were never painful. I could just feel my stomach harden and then soften. Chances are that you are just excited about the baby coming. And there is absolutely nothing wrong. But, why take any chances? See your doctor and get that verified. It's probably nothing! But, it will give you peace of mind to know that it is nothing. Good luck with your new baby! :)

Braxton Hicks are a pain in the butt, but just always remember this...Real contractions are 2 minutes apart and believe me when you get them 2 minutes apart you'll know. Braxton hicks can start from 25 weeks and on. Your body is just preparing for labor. Good Luck. I remember being in your shoes, I went to hospital 3 times thining i was in labor and they pretty much laughed at me. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I probably wouldn't worry to much unless you're feeling pain with the contractions. Usually braxton hicks don't cause pain. but labor contractions do. Also watch for any bleeding and maybe keep track of how much the baby is moving. You want to make sure the activity level doesn't change to much.

Braxton-Hicks contractions are uncomfortable but should not be painful. Generally they go away if you sit and relax for a while. (I tend to get them a lot if I've been doing too much.) However if the contractions increase in frequency, become stronger, or if you start bleeding, call your doctor right away.

they say, that if you are having contractions every 5-8 mins apart for at least an hour then you need to go asap to the dr.... because the baby may be coming although you still have a while to go but maybe your little one is ready to come out

I would call your DR. and ask him or her what they think you should do. Of course, they are going to tell you to go to the ER and get checked. Some signs that it is pre-term labor are lower back pain, contractions coming closer together, water break or leakage (which will feel like you keep wetting your panties), any blood, and feeling pressure down there. Either way- call your DR. I had my daughter at 28 weeks gest.

Change your activity. It should slow them down. Is this your first baby? They are more common with second pregnancy and thereafter. No need to worry unless they are getting stronger, your amniotic fluid is leaking, or they don't go away (this would be labor and you would know it). If you're uncomfortable then call your doctor or whoever is on call. They can assess you better and will tell you if you need to go to the hospital. Good luck!

Had you been pregnant formerly? maybe no, so you dont know how to differentiate the delivery contractions vs. contractions that can be a alarm sign. Only 27 wks, i would be concerned. you should visit your doctor
