In the movie they dug a hole in the basement floor of the bank and I never figured out why. Does anybody know why?

Bank robber's bathroom; he was there for a week. The best way to minimize the inevitable smell would be to install a makeshift latrine leading directly in to the sewer line.

They dug a hole to the sewer line so the Dalton Russell (Clive Owen) character would have a place to go to the bathroom while he hid in the back of the storeroom for a week.

What I can't figure out is where they put the concrete and things they dug out of the hole. If the police found the refuse they would know to look for a hole somewhere. In the film the robbers can be seen dumping it in a trashcan, but this would be found. So, where did they put it?

They dug the hole so Clive Owen's character could use it as a bathroom since he was in there hiding for a week.

Yep, it was a hole to go to the bathroom. It doesn't register when they're all digging it and he says 'that's quite a s***hole' because at that time you don't know how long he plans to stay in the bank.

Hi, I believe they sent out the docs that related to the bank owners past history down a pipe (for pick up down the line).
