I agree with you completely. Real life is more scary than these films nowadays. Show me those "Closed Case Files" and "Unsolved Mysteries" shows and I am spooked because those crazy people could be outside your door. The last movie that scared the bejesus out of me was "Skeleton Key" because that kind of stuff is true.

I don't think there are any scary story lines left to make.
The best I've seen in a long, long time was the one about the light at the top of the well when the cover was going over it. I think it was called "The Ring"
If you want scary, read the front page of your local daily newspaper.

Movies get less scary as you get older. Also if they are popular, like they are now. You will see less inovation or new thrills in them since the studios want proven formulas tha make money.
