My suv seems to be staying in a lower gear than it used to. It doesn't seem to be going into o/d. It has an o/d switch and I make sure it is pushed. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?

the torque converter may not be locking up in the final gear. take it in to your shop and ask them whats going on with your car.

If you push the o/d switch while driving and it kicks down a little then you know your o/d is working but the torque convertor may not be locking up...how far are you driving they usually wont lock until your transmission is warm enough. If thats not it I would take it to Toyota (half the price) and have the codes pulled.Lexus's are great vehicles, im sure its not that big of a deal. I wouldnt trust anything else for my fiance now after owning one.

Are there any warning lights illuminated or flashing on the dash or at the shift console?
If there aren't any obvious warning devices trying to get your attention, locate a parts store or transmission shop that will retrieve the DTCs stored in the computer. The transmission on this car is computer controlled, and if there are either sensors or output devices that have failed, it will register a code, making diagnosis much easier than it used to be. BUT you do have to gather the codes to be able to know what to do.

Good Luck

It's an electrically controlled OD. Is there anything else electrical that isn't working? I'd probably look for a blown fuse first.
